The Forester track team closed out the 2024-25 season at the Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Lawrence University on Saturday.
Highlighting Lake Forest's performance on day two of the event was a victory and time of 1:55.60Â in the men's 800m by sophomore
Ollie Francis. He moved into the lead coming around the final turn and out-kicked his closest competitors for a .28-second win.
The top three finishers in each event earn All-MWC status and junior
AJ Jones accomplished that feat twice on Saturday. Her 12.36 in the 100m was good for second place at the meet and broke the previous school record of 12.67 that she set in the prelims on Friday. Jones also broke her own one-day-old school record in the 200m with a third-place clocking of 25.55 seconds.
Jones also helped both of the Foresters' relay teams set school records. She was accompanied by freshman
Farah Tawfik and juniors
Jacquelyn Han and
One Kenosi in the 4x100m and their time of 50.94 seconds placed them fifth in the field. freshman
Andrea Fernandez joined Jones, Tawfik, and Kenosi in the 4x400m relay and they finished 6th in 4:13.88, which was nearly six seconds faster than the previous record set by the same four runners four weeks earlier.
Jones was not the only Forester to have qualified for one of Saturday's finals. Sophomore
Payton Ross placed fourth in the 110m high hurdles and his time of 15.84 seconds improved upon the school record he set in Friday's prelims. Han was fifth in the 100m hurdles in 16.62 seconds and eighth in the 400m hurdles in 1:15.57. Kenosi also turned in an eighth-place finish in the 400m and missed the school record of 1:01.32 she set in the prelims by just .24 seconds.
Lake Forest had a pair of athletes place seventh in the triple jump. Freshman
Zahra Tait's 9.83m (32' 3") in the women's event is a new school record while classmate
Ryan Talty's 13.24m (53' 5.25") in the men's competition ranks him second in team annals.
After winning the shot put on Friday, sophomore
Michael Kasemervisz was ninth in Saturday's discus but his throw of 38.84m (127' 5") put him among the top five in school history in the event.
With 30 and 29 points, respectively, the Forester men and women posted their highest MWC Outdoor Championship Meet totals in program history.
