The Forester women's tennis team defeated Augustana College 7-0 Sunday afternoon at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
The contest began with a doubles sweep for the home team. Sophomore
Sofia Strupovets and freshman
Lilli Dockal won 6-4 at the top spot in the lineup and improved to 19-3 as a doubles team this season. Fifth-year
Margaret Bugnacki and senior
Sara Lopez prevailed 6-2 at #2 and sophomores
Kate Feist and
Anika Kinnear doubled up their opponents 6-3 at #3.
The Forester victories kept coming in singles. Bugnacki was the first to finish, taking both sets 6-2 at #3 to tie the program record with her 76th career singles win. Lopez came out on top 6-4, 6-0 at #4 and Strupovets clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at #1. Dockal posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #2, her 40th of the year in singles and doubles combined, and the home team used third set super tiebreakers to finish off the final two matches of the day. After dropping the first set 6-4, Feist took the second 6-0 and the super tiebreaker 10-3 at #5. Junior
Olivia Pandazi closed out the contest with a 6-0, 5-7, (10-6) triumph at #6.
Lake Forest improved to 14-4 while Augustana fell to 4-11 on the season.
The Foresters will play their final regular season match of the year against visiting North Park University on Thursday, April 17.
