Bugnacki Sets School Record for Singles Wins as Foresters Defeat North Park

The Lake Forest College women's tennis team defeated North Park University 7-0 Thursday night at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

While the Foresters won at eight of the nine positions in the lineup, the most notable of the victories was a 6-2, 7-5 triumph for fifth-year Margaret Bugnacki at #3 singles. It was her 78th career singles win, breaking a tie with 2018 graduate Allison Watts for first place in program history.

Bugnacki also teamed up with senior Sara Lopez to double up the Vikings' #2 tandem 6-3 and the doubles point was clinched when sophomore Sofia Strupovets and freshman Lilli Dockal finished off their 6-4 victory atop the lineup.

Dockal defeated her counterpart at #2 singles 6-4, 6-3 and Strupovets took the first set 6-4 and the second 6-1 at #1. The match was clinched after both sets at #4 went to Lopez by the score of 6-4. After falling at #3 doubles, sophomores Kate Feist and Anika Kinnear rebounded with victories at #5 and #6 singles, respectively. Kinnear rolled 6-1, 6-2 and Feist closed out the contest by edging out her opponent 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, (10-5).

Lake Forest improved to 15-4 on the season while North Park fell to 10-8.

The Foresters' next match will be in the semifinals of the MWC Tournament at Hitters Sportsplex in Middleton, Wisconsin, on Saturday, May 3. They will take on Cornell College at noon with the winner advancing to face either Grinnell College or Illinois College in the final later that afternoon.
