Forester track and field was one of 42 teams competing at the Chicagoland Championships at Elmhurst University on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Sophomores
Michael Kasemervisz and
Ollie Francis were the highest-placing Foresters at the meet. Kasemervisz finished fifth in the shot put on Thursday with a throw of 14.01m (45'11.75") and Francis took the same place in Saturday's 800m with a school record time of 1:55.20.
The top performances on the women's side came in Friday's 5000m, where sophomore
Lettia Hoda was eighth in 18:29.82 and classmate
Sophie Graham 10th in 18:41.38. Hoda improved on her standing as the second-fastest runner in program history in that event while Graham climbed into third place on that list.
Additional top-10 finishes came from sophomore
Payton Ross in the 110m high hurdles (16.13 seconds), senior
Emmy Punches in the javelin (101' 8"), and freshmen
Eleanor Clark (45:40.87) and
Demos Manoukis (36:34.00) in the women's and men's 10,000m, respectively.
Like Hoda in the 5000m, junior
AJ Jones was already second in team history in the women's 200m before posting a career-best time of 26.48 seconds to finish 21st in a field of 75 competitors.
The Foresters will compete in the Beloit Relays next Saturday.
