The Forester men's golf team was part of a high-level field and finished seventh out of 38 teams at Illinois Wesleyan University's IWU Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
The tournament took place on two courses in Normal, Illinois, with Lake Forest playing the first round at Weibring Golf Course and the second at Ironwood Golf Course.
Sophomore
Tyler Wengronowitz was the Foresters' top player in both rounds, carding a 2-under 69 on Friday and an even-par 72 on Saturday. There were four birdies on both of his scorecards and he tied for third place in the tournament's 228-player field. In addition, his 36-hole total of 141 tied the second-lowest mark in program history.
Freshman
Nate Choi was next on the team and tied-for-28th overall at 148. He followed up his season-best 72 on Friday with a 76 on Saturday and both rounds included three birdies.
Sophomore
Tyler Schick's two-day score of 152 tied him for 66th place and senior
Luke Duffer was four shots behind him and tied-for-118th overall.
Illinois Wesleyan won the event with a two-day score of 575, seven strokes better than runner-up Aurora University. All six of the teams ahead of Lake Forest came from programs ranked among the top 40 in the country according to the NCAA's official scoring database. Four more of those programs were behind the Foresters, whose posted a score of 597. Five of the program's top nine two-day totals have now been recorded this season.
The next event on Lake Forest's schedule in Wisconsin Lutheran College's Morningstar Masters next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The one-day tournament will be played at Morningstar Golfers Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
