Forester second week in a row and fifth time in her career, Lake Forest College women's golfer
Gabrielle Krebs was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
Krebs won Augustana College's Viking Classic in historic fashion. The sophomore's 1-over 73 on Saturday and 3-over 75 on Sunday rank among the top 12 rounds in program history and her total score of 148 was two strokes better than the previous 36-hole school record she already owned. A birdie by Krebs on the 134-yard, par-3 17th hole broke a tie for first place and she held on for the one-stroke victory in a field of 42 players. She also led Lake Forest to a first-place finish at the seven-team event and the Foresters' score of 313 on Saturday ranks third in program history while their final tally of 638 is second.
With a final scoring average of 79.07 on the year, Krebs broke the school record by nearly two shots per round. After three seasons her career mark now stands at 81.10, which is the best in program history by 2.35 strokes.
SLIAC Players of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Krebs also earned the honor seven days ago, on September 23, and once during each of her first two years at the College.
