Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Lake Forest Defeats Illinois Tech, Will Play at Home in NACC Tournament Quarterfinals

The Forester men's lacrosse team defeated visiting Illinois Institute of Technology 15-4 on Wednesday's regular season finale.

While the Lake Forest defense was stingy throughout the contest, the offense started slow. A man-up goal by freshman John Shannon finally started the scoring with 6:10 remaining in the first quarter and fellow freshmen Aidan Wigton and Jackson Derosia struck two and four minutes later, respectively, and Shannon's second of the contest made the score 4-0 at the end of the opening period.

Five other Foresters scored in the second quarter and the home team was ahead 9-1 at halftime.

The third quarter featured the second scores of the day for sophomore Macklin Thomas, junior Brendan Herbert, and Wigton and Shannon completed his second hat trick of the season.

After three straight scores from the Scarlet Hawks, Lake Forest junior Brant Schuckman and senior Max Guyott closed out the scoring.

Forty-eight Foresters appeared in the contest and the team was led in ground balls by senior Connor Tartaglione with six and classmate Conor Murphy with four. Sophomore Liam Bradley spent most of his time on the field defending Illinois Tech's top scorer and accounted for three of the team's 15 caused turnovers.

Senior goalkeeper Andrew Widlar stopped six of the Scarlet Hawks' eight shots on goal in the first three quarters and junior Jacob Lipson added three more saves in the fourth.

The Foresters finished the regular season with an overall record of 9-7 and a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference mark of 8-3. Illinois Tech fell to 8-8 overall and 7-4 in the league.

Lake Forest is tied-for-third in the conference standings with Concordia University Wisconsin and Milwaukee School of Engineering and, as the #4 seed in the 2025 NACC Tournament, the Foresters will host MSOE in the quarterfinals this Saturday at noon.
