Senior
Jenna Doctor and junior
Emma Sharp combined for 13 points as the Forester women's lacrosse team prevailed 15-10 at Transylvania University in a lightning-shortened game on Saturday.
After Transylvania scored the first three goals of the contest, Sharp scored twice and also assisted Doctor on a man-up goal in the final two-and-a-half minutes of the opening quarter.
She set up Doctor again to give the visitors the lead 78 seconds into the second but three straight scores from the Pioneers put them on top 6-4 with 10:44 to play in the half. Lake Forest then rattled off six straight goals, three by Doctor, two from senior
Ashley Carr, and the last by junior
Daulath Khan. Transylvania ended the run with a score just before the end of the quarter to make it a 10-7 game in favor of the Foresters at halftime.
Junior
Shannon Gibbons and Khan added to Lake Forest's lead early in the third quarter but the home team cut the margin to two (12-10) with three goals late in the period. Doctor's sixth of the day and Sharp's third sandwiched a score from senior
Krissy Kuwahara to extend the Forester lead to five.
The teams and fans had to clear the facility due to lighting for the second time with 8:07 on the clock and the game was called at that time.
Forester junior goalkeeper
Cecilia Adams made a dozen saves in the contest to earn the victory. She has now reached double figures in saves in four of five games this season and 10 times in her career.
Kuwahara had a team-high three ground balls while Gibbons led all players in the game with eight draw controls.
The Foresters, who also won at Centre College on Thursday, improved to 2-3 on the season while Transylvania fell to 2-7.
Lake Forest will host Carthage College next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
