A day after blanking the University of Mount Union 7-0, the Lake Forest College men's tennis team prevailed 6-1 over Gettysburg College on Wednesday.
Senior
Daniel Tulchinskiy, freshman
Felipe Moraes, and sophomore
Felipe Vazsonyi were victorious in both doubles and singles play. Tulchinskiy and Moraes began the match with a 6-1 win at #1 doubles and the doubles point was clinched when Vazsonyi and freshman
Joao Espindola doubled up Gettysburg's #3 team 6-3.
Moraes took the first set 6-2 at #3 singles before his opponent was forced to retire due to injury. After the Bullets earned their only point of the evening at #1 singles, Forester sophomore
Bernardo Aguiar finished off a 6-2, 6-4 victory at #3. The match-clinching point came from Vazsonyi at #4, where he took both sets 6-2. Tulchinskiy's 6-3, 6-2 triumph at #5 was nearly as convincing while senior
Kyle Lassen needed a third set super tiebreaker at #6, coming out on top 3-6, 7-5, (10-5).
The victory raised Lake Forest's record on the season to 3-6 while Gettysburg fell to 4-5.
Unless another Spring Break match is added to the Foresters' schedule, they will resume their season at Carthage College next Saturday night at 6:45.
