After rain washed away play on Monday, the Lake Forest College women's tennis team began the competition part of its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, with a 5-2 victory over Greenville University on Tuesday.
The Foresters earned the doubles point with victories at the top two spots in the lineup. Sophomore
Kate Feist and fifth-year
Margaret Bugnacki doubled up the Panthers #2 tandem 6-3 shortly after sophomore
Sofia Strupovets and freshman
Lilli Dockal finished off a 6-2 triumph at #1. With limited court availability and the doubles point already clinched, the match at #3 was not played.
Strupovets made quick work of her counterpart at #1 singles, taking the first set 6-2 and the second 6-0. Dockal came out on top 6-4, 6-1 at #2 singles and Bugnacki won by the same score at #3 to secure the team's victory. After dropping the first set 7-5 at #4, Feist prevailed 6-3 int he second and 10-0 in the third set super tiebreaker to make the score 5-0. Super tiebreakers at #5 and #6 went to Greenville.
The Foresters improved to 11-2 while Greenville fell to 4-5.
Lake Forest will play twice on Wednesday, making up Monday's rained out match against Randolph College at 11:30 a.m. (ET) and taking on Saint Mary's College at 5:30 p.m. (ET).
