The Lake Forest College women's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by Hope College, the 35th-ranked team in the nation, Friday night at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
While the Foresters were shut out on the scoreboard, they did earn a victory at #1 doubles. Sophomore Sophia Strupovets and freshman
Lilli Dockal edged out the visitors' top tandem 7-5.Â
Strupovets also won 6-0 in the first set at #1 singles before dropping the second 6-4 and third 6-0. The match at #5 singles was also tied after two sets with Lake Forest sophomore
Kate Feist falling 6-4 in the first before taking the second 6-1. She was then doubled up 10-5 in the third set super tiebreaker.
The loss dropped the Foresters' record on the season to 9-2 while the Flying Dutch improved to 3-1.
It was Senior Night for Lake Forest and
Emily Bross,
Margaret Bugnacki, and
Sara Lopez were honored after the contest.
The Foresters will be in action again Saturday afternoon when they host Loras College at 12:30.
