The Forester men's tennis team had its home opener and Senior Night spoiled by a 5-2 victory for Hope College Friday evening at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
The Flying Dutch took two of the three doubles matches to begin the contest. Lake Forest junior
George Ciuca and sophomore
Bernardo Aguiar doubled up their counterparts 6-3 at #2 but the home team was not able to win the doubles point.
Losses at #4 and #1 singles left the Foresters facing a 3-0 deficit but Aguilar finished off a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) victory at #2 and freshman
Felipe Moraes prevailed 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 6-2 at #3 to make the team score 3-2. A Hope victory at #6 clinched the match and the visitors added a triumph at #5 to finish it off.
Lake Forest fell to 1-6 while Hope improved to 2-4 on the season.

The Foresters' next four matches will be played during the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. They will begin play at the Spring Tennis Fest against Catholic University on Sunday, March 9, at 4:00 p.m. (ET).
