Lake Forest Falls to MSOE in Season's Final Home Game

The Forester men's hockey team was defeated 1-0 at home Friday night by Milwaukee School of Engineering.

The night began with a Senior Day ceremony honoring 13 Foresters who were set to play in Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse for the final time. They have combined for more than 100 goals, 200 assists, and 900 saves over the last four seasons.

Lake Forest came out strong, out-shooting the Raiders 12-7 in the opening period.

MSOE had a 14-4 advantage in that category in the second and netted the game's only goal while short-handed with 3:03 remaining in the middle period.

Both teams put seven shots on target in the final 20 minutes but neither scored, giving the visitors a 1-0 triumph.

Forester senior goaltender Bobby McCloskey made 27 saves but was unable to come away with the victory.

Lake Forest is now 9-14-1 overall and 5-11-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play this season. MSOE improved to 11-9-4 overall and 6-8-3 in the league and clinched a spot in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs.

The teams will face off again in Milwaukee Saturday night at 7:00 with the Foresters needing to earn more points in the NCHA standings than Concordia University Wisconsin does against Marian University an hour later to reach the postseason.
