The Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 85-50 by Simpson College on Tuesday at the Wartburg Holiday Tournament.
Senior forward
Rylie Crecelius led the Foresters with 14 points while junior guard
Anika Kinnear had 11. Kinnear also established new career highs by leading all players in the game with nine rebounds and accounting for half of Lake Forest's eight steals on the day.
The Foresters shot 31.3 percent from the field while Simpson was at 41.2. The Storm also outscored Lake Forest 33-15 on three-pointers, had a 48-41 edge in rebounds, and committed just a dozen turnovers while forcing 25.
Simpson scored the game's first nine points and led throughout. The score after the first quarter was 17-9 and the teams went into the locker room at halftime separated by 17 at 40-23. The Storm had doubled up the Foresters 58-29 by the end of the third quarter and cruised to the victory.
Lake Forest fell to 2-9 on the season while Simpson improved to 6-5.
The Foresters' final 14 contests of the season will be against fellow members of the Midwest Conference, beginning with a home game against Knox College this Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
