Lake Forest College women's soccer players
Anna Gracia and
Lola Halsband were named Midwest Conference Offensive and Defensive Performer of the Week, respectively, on Monday. They helped the Foresters finish off a perfect 18-0 regular season with a 5-0 victory at Monmouth College on Saturday.
Gracia scored a pair of goals in the contest, giving her team a 2-0 lead at the 20:14 mark and later making it a 4-0 game with 30:22 remaining. In both instances the senior forward positioned herself just inside the top of the box and received a pass from the right side of the field before firing a right-footed shot past the goalie.
Gracia tied for the league lead in goals during conference play with seven in as many games. She has scored 15 times so far this fall in all contests and is now tied for eighth in program history with 37 goals in her career.
Halsband, a junior defender, helped the team earned its eighth shutout of the season. Monmouth was not only kept off the scoreboard, the home team did not even attempt a shot during Halsband's 66 minutes on the field. She also earned the assist on Gracia's first goal of the game before scoring herself for the first time this season just 50 seconds later.
Halsband now has one goal in each of her three seasons at the College. She also has three assists this year and eight in her career.
Lake Forest will host the four-team MWC Tournament this weekend and take on Grinnell College in Friday's 11:00 a.m. semifinal on Mohr Field.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Gracia also earned the award once last season.
