The Forester women's basketball team was defeated 63-42 at Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night.
Senior forwards
Sara Mills and
Rylie Crecelius led Lake Forest in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively. They also combined for seven rebounds in the contest while junior guard
Mia deGrasse had a team-high five.
The Foresters shot 34.1 percent from the field while the Raiders were only slightly better at 38.7 percent. MSOE outscored the visitors 27-6 on three-pointers and had a commanding 43-28 edge in rebounds.
The home team got off to a fast start, shooting 50 percent from the floor in the first quarter to take an 18-8 lead into the second. The margin grew to as many as 19 points in the second and Lake Forest trailed 39-22 at halftime.
A 9-0 Forester run to close out the third quarter made it a 46-34 game with 10 minutes to play. Lake Forest closed to within 11 points early in the fourth but got no closer.
The loss dropped the Foresters' overall record on the season to 1-4 while MSOE improved to 3-1.
Lake Forest will travel to Concordia University next Tuesday evening for a 7:00 tip-off.
