High-Scoring Foresters Prevail at Illinois Tech

The Lake Forest College men's basketball team posted an 87-84 victory at Illinois Institute of Technology Wednesday night.

The Foresters have scored between 86 and 89 points in all four of their games so far this year and have made more than half of their field goal attempts in 2025-26 thanks to a 54.7 percent shooting performance at Illinois Tech. They also made a season-high 23 free throws and out-rebounded the Scarlet Hawks 37-28.

Senior forward Cristian Rodriguez led the visitors with 23 points while sophomore guard Marko Visnjevac finished with a career-high 20. Rodriguez shot 8-for-12 from the floor and 7-for-8 from the foul line while adding three assists and a game-high eight rebounds. Visnjevac knocked down four of five attempts from three-point range and his stat line also featured three steals.

Forester senior guard Alex Brown also reached double figures in scoring with a dozen points and junior wing Coltrane Marchand did a little bit of everything, finishing with six points, five rebounds, three steals, and a team-high four assists. Freshman guard Anthony Favia matched Marchand with six points and Lake Forest outscored Illinois Tech by 19 points when he was in the game.

The only deficit the Foresters faced was 5-4 and they outscored the Scarlet Hawks 24-4 over the next seven minutes. The margin was at least 12 points for the rest of the period and the visitors took a 46-29 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Illinois Tech chipped away and eventually closed to within eight points at 67-59 with eight-and-a-half minutes to play. The Foresters, however, scored the next four points and led by at least nine the rest of the way.

The victory was the first for Lake Forest in four games this season while Illinois Tech fell to 0-3.

The Foresters will play their second home game of the year on Saturday against Macalester College with tip-off scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
