Lake Forest College swimmer
Amelie Andres was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her accomplishments at Saturday's double dual meet against Milwaukee School of Engineering and host Carthage College.
Andres began the meet by contributing to the Foresters' victory in the 200-medley relay. She teamed up with sophomores
Joss Hoffman and
Isabella Rozenbergas and junior
Audrey Kilmer to finish in 1:52.57 and out-touch Carthage by just .16 seconds. Andres also edged out fellow senior
Valeria Welk by an even smaller margin to win the 200-freestyle in 2:04.05 and added a victory in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:10.99. In addition, she was the runner-up in the 200-breaststroke in 2:35.76.
Lake Forest split the two duals, rolling 214-61 against MSOEÂ and falling 162.5-134.5 to Carthage.
Andres currently ranks second in the conference in the 100-breaststroke, third in the 200-breaststroke and 200-freestyle, and fourth in the 500-freestyle.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Andres also earned the award once during the 2023-24 season.
