12/6/2025 10:17:00 PM

The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams competed in the three-day Carthage Classic this week and placed fourth in the women's team standings and fifth in the men's.

The top performer for the Foresters was sophomore Isabella Rozenbergas, who won all four of her individual events, contributed to three relay victories, broke three school and two Midwest Conference records, and posted NCAA B-cut qualifying marks in a pair of events. Her first conference record and B-cut came in the prelims of Friday's 200-IM, which she finished in 2:04.66. She also completed her 100-butterfly prelim in 56.12 seconds later that morning before winning both events in the finals that evening. The second school record for Rozenbergas was her 2:06.19 in the 100-butterfly prelims on Sunday and she nearly matched that time while winning the final that night. The other B-cut and league record was part of Lake Forest's 1-2 finish in Saturday evening's 400-IM final, which Rozenbergas won in 4:25.36 while junior Audrey Kilmer was the runner-up with a time of 4:41.45.

The Lake Forest women won three of the five relays, beginning with Thursday night's 800-freestyle. In order, senior Valeria Welk, Kilmer, sophomore Joss Hoffman, and Rozenbergas prevailed by more than seven-and-a-half seconds in 7:54.71. The Foresters closed out Friday's finals session with a triumph in the 200-freestyle relay, which featured Rozenbergas, Kilmer, freshman Avery Christian, and Hoffman. Their 1:38.70 was nearly a second faster than any other team. Saturday's finals session began with another Forester victory in the 200-medley relay, which Hoffman, senior Amelie Andres, Rozenbergas, and Welk won by just .09 seconds in 1:49.94.

There were 13 more top-three finishes for Lake Forest swimmers, beginning with a 12-second victory by sophomore Matthew Strada in Thursday night's 1650-freestyle. He finished with a time of 16:38.66 and Andres (18:02.33) and freshman Lucy Bolling (18:29.29) placed second and third in the women's race.

Strada also started Saturday's finals with a win in the 200-IM and he now ranks fifth in program history in the event with a time of 1:54.60. Later that night Kilmer finished second in the 200-backstroke (2:08.65) and 500-freestyle (5:16.82), Andres touched the wall first in the 200-breaststroke (2:25.96), and junior Gavin Biccum was third in the men's 500-freestyle (4:52.76).

Senior Demetri Zemenides tied for first place in Saturday's 200-freestyle, which he finished in 1:45.54. Hoffman was third with a time of 1:00.56 in the 100-backstroke and Andres, who will graduate from the College later this month, was the runner-up in the 100-breaststroke (1:07.71) in the final swim of her career. Additional third-place finishes were turned in by junior Clayton Berg (2:01.25) in the men's 200-butterfly and freshman Katie Sutton (2:16.61) in the women's race.

Carthage won the women's team competition and Milwaukee School of Engineering came out on top in the men's.

The Foresters' next meet will be the Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Kalamazoo College on January 17.
