The Lake Forest College swimming and diving teams traveled to the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh for a dual meet on Saturday and the Forester men came came away with a 122-110 victory while the women were edged out 129-113.
Foresters won 15 of the 26 events at the meet, including 14 of 18 individual swimming events. Sophomore
Matthew Strada turned in the first victory for the men when he took the 1000-freestyle in 10:18.34. He also prevailed in the final individual event, the 100-breaststroke, with a time of 1:03.05.
Senior
Demetri Zemenides also won a pair of individual events for the Lake Forest men, touching the wall first in the 200-freestyle in 1:50.94 and 100-freestyle in 49.47 seconds.
At one point the Forester men won six consecutive swimming events, a streak that began with senior
Andrew Lee's triumph in the 200-IM, included the 100-freestyle victory by Zemenides, and was capped off by Strada in the 100-breaststroke. The run also included junior
Cameron Schlosser taking the 100-butterfly in 55.71 seconds, junior
Ben Scott the 100-backstroke in 56.64 seconds, and junior
Gavin Biccum the 500-freestyle in 5:01.25.
The Lake Forest women started the meet with a 200-medley relay victory turned in by sophomore
Joss Hoffman, freshman
Megan O'Neill, sophomore
Isabella Rozenbergas, and junior
Audrey Kilmer. They finished more than two-and-a-half seconds ahead of the Titans in 1:54.55.
Rozenbergas was also the fastest swimmer in the meet in the 200-freestyle (2:00.92) and 100-butterfly (1:00.13) and Kilmer in the 200-IM (2:14.22) and 100-freestyle (55.35). Hoffman added a win in the 50-freestyle in 25.88 seconds and senior
Amelie Andres in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:11.31.
Three of the Foresters' victories on the day were actually 1-2 finishes with BIccum the runner-up in the men's 1000-freestyle, Strada in the men's 200-IM, and O'Neill in the women's 100-breaststroke.
Lake Forest's men's and women's teams are both 4-2 in dual meets this seasons. Oshkosh's women improved to 3-2 while the men fell to 1-4.
After a weekend off from competition, the Foresters will close out the fall semester at the Carthage Classic December 4-6.
