The Lake Forest College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were the runners-up at Lawrence University's Gene Davis Invitational on Saturday.
The Foresters combined to win 17 of the meet's 38 events, including three individual races each by sophomores
Isabella Rozenbergas and
Matthew Strada. Rozenberas prevailed in convincing fashion, taking the women's 200-IM (2:13.86) by more than eight seconds, 100-butterfly (59.67) by more than six, and 200-butterfly (2:14.96) by more than eight. Strada's victories in the men's 200-IM (2:02.69) and 400-IM (4:24.20) were by more than eight seconds combined and he was more than 25 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 1650-freestyle in 17:20.36.
Juniors
Ben Scott and
Audrey Kilmer each won a pair of individual events. Scott led a Forester 1-2 finish in both men's backstroke events, taking the 100 in 58.82 seconds and the 200 in 2:11.25. Kilmer won the women's 400-IM by more than 11 seconds in 4:45.21 and the 200-backstroke by more than four in 2:13.08.
Additional victories for the Forester men were turned in by junior
Gavin Biccum in the 500-freestyle (5:08.88), senior
Andrew Lee in the 200-breaststroke (2:17.79), and junior
Clayton Berg in the 200-butterfly (2:12.51).
Senior
Amelie Andres added a triumph in the women's 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:12.34 and she joined Rozenbergas, sophomore
Joss Hoffman, and senior
Valeria Welk in winning the meet-opening 400-medley relay (4:10.57). Hoffman and Welk were also part of the Foresters' victorious 400-freestyle relay team, who combined with Kilmer and freshman
Megan O'Neill to post a time of 3:50.81.
Milwaukee School of Engineering finished first in the men's standings with 880.5 points while Lake Forest's 613 were 27 more than third-place University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. The Oshkosh women tallied 909.5 points while the Foresters had 744.5, which was well clear of MSOE's third-place total of 398.5.
Lake Forest will take on Carroll University in its only home meet of the fall semester next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
