Despite striking first, the Lake Forest College men's soccer team dropped a tightly contested 2–1 match to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Tuesday night at Robert W. Fiskum Field.
Freshman forward Chad Endozo opened the scoring in the 25th minute, firing home his second goal of the season to put the Foresters ahead 1–0. Lake Forest carried that advantage into halftime, outshooting the Warhawks 3–0 in the opening 45 minutes.
The momentum shifted early in the second half, as Wisconsin-Whitewater netted back-to-back goals just two minutes apart.
Freshman goalkeeper Conor Leuschke was outstanding in net, recording nine saves while facing 18 total shots (11 on goal). Offensively, Endozo led the Foresters with four shots, while junior Peter Cirbo added two, including one on target. Senior Christian Karabetsos, senior Gio Diaz, junior Nathan Kostovetsky, and sophomore Sam Satisky each went the full 90 minutes, helping hold off consistent Warhawk pressure.
Lake Forest (15–1–0, 6–0–0 MWC) finished with 14 total shots and seven corner kicks, compared to Wisconsin-Whitewater's 18 and 2, respectively.
The Foresters return to conference play on Saturday, October 25, when they face Grinnell College on Farwell Field at 1:30 p.m.
