Soccer player Alexis Flores and tennis played Sofia Strupovets were named Forester Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Flores and the rest of the Lake Forest College defense limited Ripon College to three shot attempt, including just one on target, in last Wednesday's 1-0 victory at home. The senior captain also helped the Foresters post a 2-0 shutout at Cornell College on Saturday and added his first career goal late in the contest. Flores, who was also named Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week on Monday, played all 90 minutes in both games.

Lake Forest improved to 15-0 on the season and is the only team in the nation without a loss or tie on its record. The team's defense has been especially effective, ranking among the top 10 in the country with a 0.519 goals against average and 10 shutouts.

Strupovets successfully defended her league titles at the top of the singles and doubles lineup at the MWC Individual Tournament in Madison, Wisconsin, over the weekend. The junior prevailed 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals and 7-5, 6-2 in the final at #1 singles. Strupovets and #1 doubles partner Lilli Dockal also rattled off three straight victories, including an 8-6 triumph in the final, to repeat as champions.

The final victory of the weekend for Strupovets made her the eighth player in program history with 100 in her career. She also ranks eighth in team annals with 51 singles wins and tied-for-10th with 49 victories in doubles during her two-and-a-half seasons as the Foresters' top player.

Strupovets was also a Forester Athlete of the Week on September 30 and has now earned the honor five times in her career. It was the first such selection for Flores.
