The Lake Forest College women's tennis team is with the other six schools in the league at the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament this weekend. The event is taking place at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
Saturday's play included the quarterfinals and semifinals at each of the six singles positions in the lineup and the quarterfinals of all three doubles brackets. Forester players will continue competing for titles in eight of nine flights on Sunday.
Lake Forest's most convincing victories on day one of the event came from junior
Kate Feist, who prevailed 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals and did not drop a game in the semifinals at #5 singles. She also teamed up with classmate
Anika Kinnear on an 8-1 victory in the #3 doubles quarterfinals.
Kinnear took both sets 6-0 in her first match at #6 singles but was defeated in the semifinals.

Anya Mookencherry and sophomore
Avelynn Wen advanced in the middle of the lineup. Mookencherry did not drop a game in the quarterfinals at #3 singles and came out on top 6-1, 7-6 in the semifinal round. Meanwhile, Wen rolled 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1 at #4. They also combined for an 8-0 triumph at #2 singles.
The final match on the courts on Saturday was the #1 doubles quarterfinal between Lake Forest junior
Sofia Strupovets and sophomore
Lilli Dockal and their counterparts from Ripon College. The Foresters won all eight games. Lake Forest's top two singles players had byes in the quarterfinals so a 6-3, 6-0 win for Strupovets in the semifinals at #1 and Dockal's 6-1, 6-2 victory in the same round at #2 were their only other matches of the day. Both players are looking to repeat as conference champions.
