Senior goaltender
Bobby McCloskey stopped all 26 shots on goal he faced to lead the Lake Forest College men's hockey team to a 3-0 victory at the University of Dubuque on Friday.
McCloskey was given the lead less than five minutes into the contest on senior forward
Jared Gerger's sixth score of the season. Senior defenseman
Ryan Antonakis and forward
Tyler Buonopane set up the score.
The advantage doubled less than three minutes later as Forester senior forward
Griffen Sanom converted the game's first power play opportunity. His fourth goal this year was assisted by a pair of defensemen, senior
Matteas Derraugh and fifth-year
Connor Scahill.
The score remained 2-0 until the 6:39 mark of the second period when freshman forward
Trevor Faucher netted his team-high 10th goal of the winter. Antonakis and junior forward
Philip Quetell were credited with assists on what turned out to be the final goal of the game.
McCloskey's busiest period was the second when he made 17 saves, nearly twice the total from the other two combined. The shutout was his second of the season and third in his career and evened his record in 2024-25 at 5-5-0.
Lake Forest improved to 8-11-1 overall and 4-8-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Dubuque fell to 1-16-3 overall and 1-10-2 in the league.
The same two teams will face off again in Dubuque's ImOn Arena Saturday afternoon at 2:00.
