Foresters Drop First Two Matches of 2025

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated twice in Chicago on Sunday in its first action of 2025.

The team's first contest was against the University of Chicago, the defending NCAA Division III champion and top-ranked team in the country. The Maroons prevailed 7-0 with Forester sophomore Bernardo Aguiar's 6-1, 6-4 loss atop the lineup the closest of the nine matches.

Lake Forest's next opponent was Illinois Institute of Technology, which also fell to 7-0 to Chicago earlier in the day. The Foresters took two of the three doubles matches but won just two of six in singles and fell 4-3.

Aguiar and junior George Ciuca edged out their counterparts at #2 doubles 7-6 (7-3) while freshman Felipe Moraes and senior Daniel Tulchinskiy doubled up the Scarlet Hawks' best tandem 6-3.

Moraes and Ciuca provided the Foresters' points in singles. Moraes won both sets 6-2 at #2 and Ciuca came out on top 6-3, 6-1 at #4.

Lake Forest and Illinois Tech are each 1-2 this season while Chicago is 2-0.

The Foresters will be in action again on February 15 at Coe College where they will take on Greenville University at 1:00 in the afternoon and the hosts at 5:00 p.m.
