A day after defeating visiting Adrian College 5-2, the Lake Forest College men's hockey team fell 6-3 to the Bulldogs on Saturday.
Adrian, the sixth-ranked team in the nation, led 2-0 after the first period, having scored goals less than two minutes apart in the opening frame. The Bulldogs added three more tallies, including their second and third power play goals of the day, in the second before the Foresters finally got on the scoreboard.
For the season straight day, freshman forward
Trevor Faucher scored Lake Forest's first goal of the game. Junior forward
Logan Kittleson assisted on Faucher's team-high ninth score of the season with 3:44 remaining in the second period.
Adrian struck again at the 9:40 mark in the third period to make it a 6-1 game. The Foresters responded with a pair of goals in the final five minutes but could get no closer. Kittleson assisted on both scores, giving him a career-high-tying three in the contest. Senior forward Girffen Sanom also helped set up junior forward
Chase Freiermuth at the 15:39 mark and fifth-year defenseman
Connor Scahill with 1:20 on the clock. Freiermuth and Scahill each have three goals on the year.
The Bulldogs out-shot the Foresters 36-30 on the day, although Lake Forest had a 22-20 edge in that category in the final two periods combined.
The Foresters are now 7-9-1 overall this season and 3-6-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Adrian improved to 13-4-0 overall and 7-3-0 in the conference.
Lake Forest will travel to league-leading Trine University next weekend.
