Box Score The Forester men's hockey team was doubled up 4-2 Friday night at Trine University, the nation's fifth-ranked team.
Junior forward
Chase Freiermuth accounted for both of Lake Forest's tallies. He was one of several players battling for the puck in front of the Thunder goal but the only one to make solid contact, sending it past the goalie and just inside the right post. The power play goal was assisted by fifth-year defenseman
Connor Scahill and made the score 3-1 in favor of the home team three-and-a-half minutes into the second period.
After Trine regained its three-goal advantage at the 4:33 mark of the third period, Freiermuth struck again at 10:09 to keep the Foresters within striking distance. Fellow junior forward
Logan Kittleson won a face-off in the right circle of the offensive zone. He sent the puck back to Scahill, who quickly skated around the right side of the action and toward the goal. After his shot caromed off the side of the net, he retrieved the puck behind the goal and back-handed it to Freiermuth, who lifted his shot over the goalie's right shoulder for his second score of the game and fourth in the last three contests.
Forester senior goaltender
Bobby McCloskey made a season-high 38 saves in the contest.
The loss dropped Lake Forest's overall record this season to 7-10-1 and the team is now 3-7-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. Trine improved to 15-2-1 overall and 9-1-1 in the league.
The teams will face off again at Trine Saturday afternoon at 4:00 (ET).
