The Forester men's soccer team had its 2024 home opener spoiled by Benedictine University, who came out on top 3-2 on Saturday.
The home team led for more time than it trailed in the contest. Senior
Ahmed Abdelhamed put Lake Forest on top after just seven minutes of play and the score remained 1-0 until the visitors converted a penalty kick opportunity at the 38:39 mark.
Both teams had eight shot attempts in the first half and the Foresters put five of those on target to the Eagles' three.
Benedictine pulled ahead at the 59:44 mark but the lead lasted just 32 seconds. The Eagles' clearing attempt came directly to Forester freshman
Sam Satisky, who found the bottom left corner of the goal for his first score as a collegiate player.
The visitors regained the lead with 13:51 on the clock and that goal proved to be the game-winner.
Benedictine had a 7-5 advantage in shots after halftime but both teams put four attempts on target in the period.
It was Lake Forest's fourth one-goal loss in as many games this season while Benedictine improved to 2-1-0.
The Foresters will host Wisconsin Lutheran College next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
