The Lake Forest College men's golf team finished second at the WLC Fall Invitational over the weekend and the Foresters' score of 591 is the third-lowest 36-hole mark in program history.
Lake Forest began the tournament at Washington County Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin, with a 296 in Saturday's opening round and was a shot better on Sunday. The team's final score was just four strokes behind winner Carthage College and six better than third-place Luther College. Both rounds rank among the top 15 in school history.
Also adding an entry into the record books was Forester sophomore
Tyler Schick, who carded a 73 on Saturday and an even-par 72 on Sunday to match the program's seventh-best two-round total. He was sixth out of 86 golfers at the event after finishing the weekend with five birdies and six bogeys, including two of each in round two.
Senior
Chris Petri was a shot behind Schick on both days and was next on the team and seventh overall at 147. His round on Sunday included 17 pars.
Sophomore
Tyler Wengronowitz was the tournament's top player on the par-5s at -3 and tied for 11th in the individual standings at 149, which was a stroke ahead of senior
Luke Duffer, who tied for 16th. Lake Forest junior
Ben Shamberg tied for 25th at 154.
The Foresters' next tournament is the Midwest Region Classic on Friday and Saturday. The event will be played at Brighton Dale Links in Kansasville, Wisconsin.
