Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Foresters Blank Benedictine 3-0

The Lake Forest College women's soccer team scored three times in the second half and held Benedictine scoreless on the road Wednesday night.

The Foresters out-shot the Eagles 8-2 in the first 45 minutes but the score was still 0-0 at the end of the first half.

It did not take long for the visitors to finally break through in the second half. Senior Theresa Presberg's free kick from 45 yards out was allowed to bounce once just inside the box before it was headed around the goalie by junior Anna Hoffman. The ball spun into the right side of the goal to give the Foresters the lead.

Hoffman struck for the second time in the game and season later in the half. In a crowded box, fellow junior Anna Gracia's shot caromed off the left side of the goal and came out to Hoffman, who sent it back in to double the Forester advantage.

The final goal came from freshman Maggie Balas. After taking the ball up the left side of the field, she attempted a cross that was stopped by a Benedictine defender. The ball, however, came back to Balas and she lifted a shot over the goalie and into the top-right corner of the net for her second score of the season.

Forester sophomore goalkeeper Joanna Aslanides made one save in the first half and three in the second to earn her second shutout in the last three games.

Lake Forest evened its record at 2-2-1 while Benedictine fell to 0-4-1.

The Foresters will host Milwaukee School of Engineering Monday on Mohr Field at 4:30 p.m.
