Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Pair of Late Goals Allowed Costs Foresters at Hope

The Lake Forest College men's soccer team dropped its season opener 2-1 Friday night at Hope College.

The Foresters took the early lead in the contest when sophomore Gustavo Machado struck at the 20:01 mark. He received a pass on the right side of the field just above the top of the 18-yard box, stepped to his left to clear the defender and hooked a left-footed shot just inside the left post to put the visitors on top.

Lake Forest freshman goalkeeper Kyle Lemmon turned away each of Hope's first three shots on goal, preserving the 1-0 for more than 50 minutes of game action. The Flying Dutchmen finally tied the contest in the 72nd minute and then netted what proved to be the game-winner just five minutes later. Lemmon finished with four saves in his collegiate debut.

Hope had a 17-7 advantage in shots in the contest.

The Foresters will spend the night in Michigan and be in action again at Calvin University Saturday night at 7:00 (ET).
