Justin McClure Named Foresters' Strength and Conditioning Coach

7/29/2024 4:30:00 PM

Lake Forest College Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart announced Monday that Justin McClure will be the Foresters' next Strength and Conditioning Coach.

"Justin is going to be a great addition to our staff," stated Pieart. "He comes to the College with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field and is dedicated to helping student-athletes reach their potential. Our strength and conditioning program has significantly contributed to the success of Forester teams in recent years and, under Justin's leadership, that will continue to be the case going forward."

For the last year-and-a-half, McClure was the strength and conditioning coach at the US Army Holistic Health and Fitness System in Washington. He trained soldiers in proper strength training and conditioning technique, developed strength training and conditioning programs for his unit, and supervised and trained new strength and conditioning coaches and interns.

McClure spent the previous 24 years in the athletic department at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. After a year as a strength and conditioning intern, he was hired as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in 1999. McClure was promoted to associate strength and conditioning coach in 2008 and took over as the associate director of football performance in 2015.

During McClure's time at BYU he worked with each of the university's 21 intercollegiate sports. In addition to supervising and implementing strength programs for intercollegiate athletes, he also taught undergraduate strength training courses, assisted in the design and organization of a new strength and conditioning facility, helped clean and maintain that facility, and supervised student workers.

McClure attended the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and a master's in physical education. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, a Certified Sports Performance Coach (USA Weightlifting), a Certified USA Weightlifting Level 1 Coach, and a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

"I want to express my gratitude to the administration and hiring committee for giving me the opportunity to join the staff at Lake Forest College," began McClure. "I could not be more excited to join the Forester athletic community and look forward to the upcoming sports seasons. I am also eager to contribute to and further the success of Lake Forest College Athletics."
