The Lake Forest College track team closed out its 2024 season at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championship Meet at Illinois College over the weekend.
Highlighting the Foresters' performance on Saturday, day two of the competition, were program record-breaking performances by juniors
Matthew Lungu and
Bart Brophy. After breaking his own record with a time of 50.80 seconds during the 400m prelims on Friday, Lungu improved on that mark even more with a clocking of 50.16 to place fourth in the finals. Brophy finished sixth in the 800m, completing two laps around the track in 1:55.44. The previous record of 1:56.39 was established in 2018.
Freshman
Ollie Francis joined Brophy in the 800m and finished 10th in 1:57.45. Fellow freshman
Patrick Cadiz completed the 5000m in 18:00.41 and the 4x100m relay team of sophomores
Mason Wright, and
Jermaine Robinson, freshman
Shuntaro Nakamura, and Lungu was seventh in 44.17 seconds. Francis, Brophy, sophomore
Ali Faiz, and Brophy were eighth in the 4x400m relay with a tmie of 3:32.36.
A pair of Lake Forest women also competed in finals on Saturday. Sophomore
AJ Jones finished seventh in the 100m with a time of 12.90 while classmate
Jacquelyn Han took the same place in the 100m hurdles in 17.19.
Sophomore
Julie Dorner led the Forester women in the 800m with a time of 2:40.64 and freshman
Lettia Hoda was the team's top finisher in the 500m, placing 10th in 19:52.34.
Jones, freshman WIlla Bullers-Shah, Hoda, and Han closed out the meet with an eighth-place finish and season-best time of 4:27.15 in the women's 4x400m relay.
