Lake Forest Blanks Lawrence for 10th Win of the Year

The Forester men's tennis team swept visiting Lawrence University 9-0 at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff on Sunday.

All three Lake Forest doubles teams prevailed 8-1. The victory at the top of the lineup was the 47th for senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and junior Daniel Tulchinskiy as doubles partners, tying them with Joe Campagna and Chris Paterakos for the most in program history.

Vyshyvanyuk and freshman Bernardo Aguiar were the first to finish in singles, defeating their counterparts 6-0, 6-1 at #1 and #2, respectively. Sophomore George Ciuca was nearly as dominant at #4, where he won 6-0, 6-2. Tulchinskiy then came out on top 6-0, 6-3 at #4 and freshman Felipe Vazsonyi blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0 at #5. Sophomore Ian Villardi Venturini Barbosa closed out the contest by taking both sets 6-1 at #6.

Lake Forest improved to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in Midwest Conference play this season. The Vikings fell to 3-8 overall and 1-1 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Iowa next Saturday for a 9:00 a.m. battle at Grinnell College and a 3:00 p.m. match at Cornell College.
