The Forester track team began its 2024 outdoor season at Elmhurst University competing in the Chicagoland Championships.
The highly-competitive meet began with Friday's Distance Carnival. Freshman
Lettia Hoda turned in Lake Forest's top performance of the day, placing 10th in the 5000m. With a time of 18:46.96, she now ranks second in program history in the event.
Junior
Delfina Jorgensen led four Forester women in the 1500m with a time of 5:27.15.
Highlighting Lake Forest's performance on Saturday was junior
Bart Brophy's 800m time of 1:57.35, which was good for 17th place out of 88 men in the race. It also placed him second in team history in the event. Senior
Becca Ray was the Foresters' top 800m runner on the women's side with a 2:35.19.
Junior
Matthew Lungu completed the men's 400m in 51.62 to place 18th out of 65 runners while sophomore
One Kenosi was 31st in the women's race in 1:06.19, which ranks her fourth in team history.
Lungu (23.60 seconds) and senior
Melissa Gomez (29.87) were Lake Forest's fastest 200m runners and the team's top finishers in the 100m were freshman
Shuntaro Nakamura (11.47) in the men's race and sophomore
AJ Jones (12.96) in the women's. Nakamura now ranks third in program history in the event.
Freshman
Payton Ross was 12th out of 25 competitors in the men's 110m high hurdles in 16.29 seconds and sophomore
Jacquelyn Han competed in both women's hurdle events, finishing the 100m in 18.04 and the 400m in 1:17.40.
Lake Forest will continue its outdoor season at the Beloit Relays next Saturday.
