Vyshyvanyuk Breaks Program's Career Wins Record in Sweep of Ripon

The Forester men's tennis team defeated Ripon College 9-0 at home on Saturday.

The first victory of the day was at #1 doubles, where senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and junior Daniel Tulchinskiy blanked their opponents 8-0. It was the 133rd career win for Vyshyvanyuk in singles and doubles combined, breaking his tie with John Adams (2010-13) for the most in program history. It was also the 46th win for Vyshyvanyuk and Tulchinskiy as doubles partners, one shy of the school record set by Joe Campagna and Chris Paterakos in 2010.

Lake Forest freshman Bernardo Aguiar and sophomore George Ciuca also prevailed 8-0 at #2 doubles and, with just five players at the match, the Red Hawks were forced to forfeit at #3.

Vyshyvanyuk added to his record with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #1 singles while Aguiar and Ciuca won by the same score at #2 and #4, respectively. Tulchinskiy came out on top 6-3, 6-1 at #3 and Vazsonyi did not drop a game at #5.

The Foresters are now 9-5 overall and 1-0 in Midwest Conference play this spring. Ripon fell to 2-14 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Lake Forest will continue conference play against Lawrence University on Sunday. The match will be played indoors at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff at 2:30 p.m.
