The Lake Forest College men's tennis team blanked Cornell College 5-0 in the semifinal of Friday's Midwest Conference Team Tournament but was defeated 5-2 by Grinnell College in the final.
The Foresters swept the doubles matches against Cornell with freshman

George Ciuca added an 8-2 triumph at #2 and senior
Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk teamed up with junior
Daniel Tulchinskiy to win 8-3 at #1.
Ciuca prevailed 6-4, 6-0 at #3 singles and Aguiar closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #2. Lake Forest players had won the opening set in each of the other four singles contests when the match ended.
Grinnell began the final by taking two of three in doubles. The Foresters' victory came at #2, where Aguiar and Ciuca came out on top 8-6.
The Pioneers also won at #3 singles before Vyshyvanyuk finished off a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at #1 to make the team score 3-2. Grinnell victories at #5 and #6, however, ended Lake Forest's comeback bid and secured the tournament title.
The Foresters finished the dual match portion of their schedule with an overall record of 14-7. Cornell fell to 17-8 and Grinnell will advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament at 24-3.
All three teams will be joined by the rest of the league in Madison, Wisconsin, for the MWC Individual Tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.
