4/13/2024 8:59:00 PM

The Lake Forest College track team traveled to Beloit College on Saturday for the annual Beloit Relays.

The Foresters' most impressive performance at the meet came in the men's 1500m, where junior Bart Brophy placed first out of 32 runners with a school record time of 4:03.34. The previous mark of 4:05.09 had been set by Christian Aldana six years earlier to the day. Lake Forest also had the sixth-fastest collegiate runner in the event in freshman Ollie Francis, who finished in 4:21.96.

Two other program records were set on Saturday, although both were just a week old. Freshman Payton Ross is the men's team's first hurdler since the rebirth of the program and he was the runner-up in the 110m high hurdles with a time of 16.00 seconds. That clocking was more than a quarter-of-a-second faster than his time last weekend. Ross was also part of the Foresters' 4x100m relay team, which also included freshman Shuntaro Nakamura, junior Matthew Lungu, and sophomore Mason Wright. After posting a time of 44.47 seconds last Saturday, they placed fourth this week in 44.00 seconds.

Lungu added a second place finish in the 400m with a time of 51.33 seconds, sophomore Ali Faiz's 800m time of 2:02.72 was good for fourth place in the meet and in the school record books, and Wright was the eighth-fastest collegiate runner in the 100m with a time of 11.41 seconds.

Lake Forest also earned three points in the men's long jump, where sophomore Michael Alade's leap of 19'9" as the sixth-longest among collegiate competitors.

The top placing for the Forester women was posted by freshman Lettia Hoda in the 1500, where she was fourth in 5:05.92. That time gets her onto the program's list of the five best performers in each event.

The Lake Forest women also had three sixth-place finishes, including two by sophomore AJ Jones. Jones was better than all but five of the 32 runners in the 100m with a time of 12.85 seconds and placed sixth out of 40 in the 200m in a career-best 27.29 seconds.

In the 400m, sophomore One Kenosi was sixth in the race and fourth in team annals with a time of 1:04.85. Senior Becca Ray added an eighth place finish in the 800m, which she completed in 2:34.99 and now ranks fifth in program history.

Lake Forest will continue the outdoor season at Wheaton College's Don Church Twilight Meet next Saturday.
