Foresters Win at Carthage for Program Record Seventh Straight Victory

The Lake Forest College women's lacrosse team came out on top 12-8 at Carthage College Tuesday night to extend its winning streak to a school record seven games.

Junior Jenna Doctor accounted for four of the Foresters' goals, including the first three, to raise her team-high total on the season to 43. She gave the visitors the early lead two-and-a-half minutes into the contest and had secured her 24th career hat trick by the 8:56 mark of the second quarter.

The Firebirds also had three scores by that point in the game and regained the lead less than a minute later.

Lake Forest then seized control of the game by scoring four unanswered goals. Senior Ryleigh Nelson had the first two and freshman Alyssa Dyson narrowly beat the buzzer to make the score 6-4 at halftime. Junior Savannah Frauhiger added to the visitors' lead 63 seconds into the third quarter.

Carthage finally ended the run a few minutes later but senior Ali Graham's first of the night restored the Foresters' three-goal advantage going into the final quarter.

Doctor made Tuesday's contest her eighth in a row with at least four goals just 21 seconds into the fourth and the teams alternated goals for rest of the period, each scoring three times. Sophomore Emma Sharp had two of the three for Lake Forest and Graham the other.

In addition to her two goals, Graham added three assists for a game-high five points. She also chipped in with two ground balls and two caused turnovers on the night, Junior Krissy Kuwahara led Lake Forest with five ground balls and freshman Ella Maher with five draw controls.

Forester sophomore goalie Cecilia Adams picked up four ground balls of her own and earned her 10th career victory.

Lake Forest improved to 7-2 on the season while Carthage fell to 5-3.

The Foresters will begin Midwest Lacrosse Conference play at Cornell College Saturday afternoon at 1:00.
