Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lake Forest Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter of MLC Opener at Cornell

The Forester women's lacrosse team began its Midwest Lacrosse Conference schedule with an 18-10 victory at Cornell College Saturday afternoon.

The game was tied at one and two in the first quarter and three and four in the second. Lake Forest outscored the home team 5-1 during the final eight minutes of the half and led 8-5 at halftime. The Foresters also scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter before three in a row for the Rams made the score 11-9 going into the fourth.

Lake Forest then pulled away with six straight scores in the first half of the final period and cruised to the eight-goal victory.

Sophomore Emma Sharp led all players in the game with a career-high eight points. In addition to registering her fourth hat trick of the season, she matched the third-highest single-game assist total in team annals with five. Senior Ali Graham was next on the team with six points on four goals and a pair of assists while also leading the visitors with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Additional hat tricks were turned in by freshmen Ella Maher and Alyssa Dyson and junior Krissy Kuwahara scored twice. Senior Ryleigh Nelson and junior Jenna Doctor each scored a goal and they combined for five assists and junior Savannah Frauhiger added her name to the scoring list as well.

Forester players accounted for 25 of the game's 32 draw controls with Maher's seven leading the way.

Lake Forest sophomore goalie Cecilia Adams made six saves in the victory, which extended the team's program record winning streak to eight games. The Foresters are now 8-2 and Cornell 9-2 on the year.

The Foresters will host a non-conference game against Illinois Wesleyan University on Mohr Field Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
