After dropping two of three in doubles, the Lake Forest College men's tennis team swept the singles matches and prevailed 7-2 against Gettysburg College on Friday.
Freshman
Felipe Vazsonyi and junior
Kyle Lassen earned the Foresters' only point in doubles with an 8-5 victory at #3.
The top three singles matches were next out on the courts and Lake Forest took all three with similar scores. Freshman
Bernardo Aguiar's 6-4, 6-2 win at #2 was the first to end and was followed by a 6-4, 6-1 triumph for senior
Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk at #1. Junior
Daniel Tulchinskiy defeated the Bullets' #3 player 6-1, 6-4 to extend the lead to 4-2.
The Foresters earned even more convincing victories in the bottom half of the lineup. Sophomore
George Ciuca took the first set 6-1 and the second 6-2 at #4 to clinch the match. Vazsonyi came out on top 6-3, 6-1 at #5 and Lassen closed out the contest with a 6-0, 6-2 win at #6.
Lake Forest improved to 7-3 while Gettysburg fell to 3-3 on the season.
After splitting their four Spring Break matches in HIlton Head, South Carolina, the Foresters will host Carthage College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff next Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
