The Lake Forest College women's tennis team posted its third victory in a row on Tuesday, defeating Shenandoah University 8-1 in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Foresters swept the doubles competition with freshman
Sofia Strupovets and senior
Margaret Bugnacki prevailing 8-2 at #1, sophomore
Kristen Ahn and junior
Sara Lopez teaming up for an 8-3 win at #2, and sophomore
Rebecca Daskal and freshman
Kate Feist doubling up their opponents 8-4 at #3.
Lopez also rolled 6-3, 6-2 at #3 singles and the match-clinching point came from a 6-3, 6-1 triumph for Strupovets at the top of the lineup. Bugnacki dropped the first set 7-5 but took the second 6-1 and the third-set super tiebreaker 10-8 at #2. Feist finished off a 6-4, 6-1 decision at #5 and Daskal added a 6-2, 7-5 victory at #5.
Lake Forest improved to 12-3 this season while the Hornets fell to 1-4.
After a day off from competition, the Foresters will continue their Spring Break trip against The College of Wooster Thursday at 1:00 p.m. (ET).
