The Lake Forest College track team made the short trip to Chicago to compete in the Margaret Bradley Invitational on Saturday and had several season-best performances.
Three Foresters broke their own program records at the meet. Sophomore
AJ Jones nearly accomplished the feat twice, tying her mark in 60m with a third-place time of 8.09 seconds before improving on her 200m record with a clocking of 27.35 seconds, which was good for fifth place in the race. Fellow sophomore
Jacquelyn Han matched her record of 10.65 seconds in the prelims of the 60m hurdles and then broke it with a 10.54 to place seventh in the finals.Â
On the men's side, junior
Matthew Lungu finished fourth in the 400m in 52.37 seconds to better his previous mark of 53.16.
The top finish on the day came from sophomore
Michael Alade in the long jump, where his leap 6.69m (21'11.38") was the best in the field. Fourth place finishes were turned in by
Payton Ross in the men's 60m hurdles and freshman
Jake Bianchi in the triple jump. Bianchi finished sixth in the long jump as well.
Junior
Bart Brophy also placed in a pair of events, finishing fifth in the mile and eighth in the 800m. His mile time of 4:26.68 is a personal best, although he still ranks second in team history in the event.Â
Additional updates to the program's top-five lists came from sophomore
One Kenosi in the women's 200m (4th) and 400m (5th), freshman
Ollie Francis in the men's 800m (4th), freshman
Lettia Hoda in the women's mile (4th), and Han in the 200m (t-5th).
Lake Forest will travel to Ripon College next Friday and Saturday for the 2024 Midwest Conference Championships.Â
