The Forester men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Saturday, earning a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Coe College before falling 9-0 to host North Central College.
Lake Forest won two of the three doubles matches against Coe. After the Kohawks won the point at #3, freshman

George Ciuca came out on top 8-6 at #2 to even the match. Senior

Daniel Tulchinskiy then took the tiebreak 7-5 at the top of the lineup to give the Foresters the lead.
Coe tied the score again with a victory at #6 singles but freshman
Felipe Vazsonyi's 6-4, 6-0 triumph at #5 regained the lead for Lake Forest. Ciuca increased the advantage with a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) win at #4 but Coe drew closer with the point at #3. The clincher came from Vyshyvanyuk at #1, where he dropped the first set 6-2 before taking the second 6-3 and third 7-5.
The Foresters' win over Coe was their third in as many matches this year but they fell to 3-1 after facing the Cardinals. Coe is now 2-4 and North Central 7-1.
Lake Forest will host Hope College Friday evening at 6:30 at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.
