The Forester women's basketball team was defeated 96-44 at Illinois College on Saturday.
The Lady Blues were ahead by 10 points after the first quarter before scoring 30 in the second and taking a 52-16 lead into the locker room at halftime. Lake Forest was outscored by 11 points in the third quarter and five in the fourth.
Senior guards
Maurissa Edwards and
Melissa Gomez led the Foresters with 10 and 9 points, respectively, while junior guard
Rebecca Christodoulou added eight.
The visitors shot just 26.2 percent from the floor while Illinois College was at 42.0 percent. The home team also had a commanding 65-36 edge on the boards and forced 23 turnovers while committing 15.
The loss dropped the Foresters overall record to 6-17 and Midwest Conference mark to 4-10. Illinois College improved to 14-10 overall and 9-6 in the league.
Lake Forest will play at Ripon College Wednesday night before finishing out the season at home against Beloit College next Saturday.
