The Lake Forest College men's tennis team hosted and defeated Wartburg College 8-1 at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff on Saturday.
It was the first competition of the spring semester for the Foresters, who began the contest by sweeping the doubles matches. Senior

Daniel Tulchinskiy did not drop a game at the top of the lineup and are now just eight wins away from the program record for career victories by a doubles team. Freshman Bernardo and sophomore
George Ciuca defeated the Knight's #2 tandem 8-2 while junior

Daniel Fotiev doubled up their counterparts at #3 8-4.
Bernardo's 6-2, 6-1 triumph at #2 was the first singles match completed. Vyshyvanyuk then clinched the Lake Forest victory with a 6-4, 6-2 win at #1.Tulchinskiy rolled 6-3, 6-1 at #4 and Ciuca came out on top of a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) decision at #3. After the Knights earned their only point of the match at #5 singles, the longest battle of the day went to Forester junior
Anele Mayiga at #6, where he outlasted his opponent 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-4), (12-10).
The Foresters are now 2-0 in 2023-24 while Wartburg fell to 0-4.
Lake Forest will travel to North Central College next Saturday to take on Coe College at 3:30 p.m. and the hosts at 6:30.
