The Lake Forest College men's basketball team opened Sunday's game at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament on fire from the field but could not maintain it in a 95-60 loss to the tournament hosts St. Norbert College.
Junior wing
Alex Forowycz led the way at both ends of the floor for Lake Forest (3-7, 0-2 MWC), scoring a team-high 15 points and adding four steals on the defensive end. Wing
Coltrane Marchand added 13 points on an efficient 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range.
The Foresters came out of the gate firing on all cylinders and seized an early lead. Lake Forest opened the contest on a 12-0 run behind a pair of made three-pointers from Marchand. The sophomore recorded all three of his made three-pointers in the first half.
Lake Forest shot 59.3 percent from the field in the opening half and sunk nearly half of its three-point attempts at 46.2 percent before intermission.
It would be a tale of two halves for Lake Forest, however, as the Green Knights (9-1, 5-0 NACC) were able to get their offense in gear after halftime, as the Foresters' offense ground to a halt. St. Norbert outscored Lake Forest 54-19 in the second half.
St. Norbert would shoot 69.2 percent from the field in the second half and made five of their six three-point attempts. A 24-0 run spanning nearly seven minutes of game time put the game out of reach for Lake Forest.
Lake Forest will continue its run at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament tomorrow against Bethany Lutheran College at 5 p.m.
