Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Steve Bourbon

Foresters Can’t Find Enough Defense in Shootout

The Lake Forest men's basketball team put up one of its best offensive performances of the season Monday night against Bethany Lutheran College; unfortunately, the Foresters allowed a season-high in points and lost 101-95 to the Vikings in the St. Norbert Tournament.

It was the dynamic duo of junior wing Alex Forowycz and senior guard Alex Knight that led the way offensively for Lake Forest (3-8, 0-2 MWC).

Forowycz scored a season-high 30 points and lived outside the arc by making six shots from the three-point line. Monday marked Forowycz's second career 30-point game for the Foresters, and it was the second-highest point output as a team for Lake Forest this season.

While Forowycz was doing his damage from the three-point line, Knight was determined to work the ball inside, scoring 20 of his 29 points for the night in the paint. Knight also added three steals on the defensive end.

The Foresters opened the game sharp on both ends and took an early lead. Forowycz had 13 points at halftime and Knight's 15 first-half points fueled Lake Forest to a 49-41 lead at the break.

The Vikings offense in the second half was too much to keep up with for Lake Forest. Bethany Lutheran shot a scorching 79.3 percent from the field and made 8-of-10 threes in the second half, en route to putting 60 points on the board after halftime.

Bethany Lutheran finished the game making eight of their last nine field-goal attempts and made six of their final seven three-point attempts. Conversely, Lake Forest missed six of its final seven three-point attempts to finish the game, which doomed their efforts to secure the victory.

Lake Forest will return home for its next contest on Saturday for Parent's Day against Grinnell College.
