The Forester men's hockey team led 2-0 and 3-2 but eventually fell 6-3 Friday night at Concordia University Wisconsin.
Lake Forest junior forward
Colin Bella accounted for the only two goals in the opening period. He struck at the 3:43 mark, just 10 seconds into the first power play opportunity of the game, with assists credited to junior forward
Philip Quetell and freshman forwardÂ
Johnathon Mead following the face-off win by freshman forward
Trevor Faucher.
Bella also scored an unassisted goal at the 12:13 mark to raise his season total to five and give the visitors a 2-0 lead they took into the locker room at the first intermission.
The Falcons tied the score less than six minutes into the second stanza but Lake Forest regained the lead on a power play goal by fifth-year defenseman
Connor Scahill at 10:28. Senior forwards
Jared Gerger and
Tyler Buonopane set up Scahill's first score of the season.
The home team came back and tied the score once again before the end of the second period and then took the lead for the first time on the night at 3:48 in the third.
Lake Forest out-shot Concordia Wisconsin 14-9 in the final period but were unable to even the score. A pair of empty net goals in the final minute-and-a-half made the score more lopsided than the game itself.
The Falcons finished the game with a 40-35 advantage in shots on goal.
The Foresters fell to 1-5-1 overall and 0-4-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play while Conconrdia Wisconsin improved to 3-5-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the league.
The weekend series will move to Lake Forest for Saturday night's 7:00 face-off.
